I’ll admit, I have been pondering the idea of starting a blog for a while now but the level of commitment and the dread of writer’s block has always put me off. Then, about two days ago I decided to stop making excuses and just do it, I mean, what’s the worst that could come from it? I have many interests and hobbies but my passions include music, fitness, food, and travel. This blog is going to be a mix of all four, with an occasional sprinkle of other topics like photography.
I am a 20-year-old uni student who still has a lot to learn about the world and a hell of a lot of living to do. But I also have a lot that I want to share with you. I am in my third year studying law and media at the University of Adelaide in South Australia but am still completely clueless about what I actually want to do with myself after study. All I know is that I want it to mean something, and I want to make a difference somehow. I work a casual job at a local cafe and the life-long friends that I have made there make up for the fact I am on minimum wage. I am also so grateful for the friends I have outside of work who embrace my weirdness and stop me from making terrible decisions, like walking home from town at 3am in the morning.
I still live at home with my mum and two brothers who are everything to me despite the constant bickering. My dad moved to Hong Kong about three years ago for work and lives there with my step mum and seven-year-old half-brother, who I get to see about twice a year. Much to my grandmother’s dismay, I do not yet have my ears pierced and still let the 12-year-old tomboy in me shine through a little. I love adventure and I love a challenge. I love to get lost in a foreign city or even in a part of my own home-town that I’ve never explored before. I love dogs AND cats (yes, it is possible to love both). I love the ocean and the feeling you get when you duck dive a smooth wave and are re-born out the other side. I am in love with the idea of love but wouldn’t call myself a romantic. I love being able to put on my sneakers and pound the pavement when I am feeling stressed, upset or anxious. And most of all I love music and the power it has over our emotions. In fact, music is one of the few things that can make me cry (My sister’s keeper did not).
So that’s me in a nutshell. Well, of course, there is a lot more that I could add but I feel this is enough to give you a sense the kind of person I am. This blog is very much going to be a learning experience, so bear with me as I figure it all out, no doubt there will be a few mistakes and mishaps along the way.
I’ll be in touch soon,
